As for Ice Cream Sandwich, well... there's really too much to list ;). But here are some of facts listed from the Google Nexus page:
- Face Unlock No need to actually type in your PIN or password anymore, now your device will use the front-facing camera (assuming you have one) to unlock your phone. [Currently Visidon App Lock provides this service based on certain applications]
- Android Beam Uses NFC to transfer things like contacts, websites, applications, & maps simply by touching the backs of the phones together; no need to open a separate application to have the information sent from phone to phone, it "simply works."
- Voice Typing Voice typing is already a part of Android, but with ICS Voice Typing is much improved. Instead of simply pressing the MIC button, speaking your text, & seeing what response is created, Voice Typing will now be shown word-for-word as you speak.
- Google+ While not a major feature, Google+ will now be included in ICS. Hopefully this will lead to more Google+ users & give Google's Social Networking site the boost it needs.
- Camera The huge feature that will be present in the ICS Camera app is Panoramic mode. You can now shoot panoramic photos without any third-party apps. Just change to Panoramic Mode, press the shutter to begin the shot, pan across the picture you wish to capture, & press the shutter again to end the shot.
- HD Display Rumor is, Google chose Samsung for the next Nexus device because of their displays. While recent facts about this display have come to light (photo below compares the Super AMOLED to Super AMOLED Plus courtesy of Android Community), the display will still be impressive. With a 4.65" display & a resolution of 1280x720, it will definitely stand out from current Android devices [as well as Apple devices ;P].
- Design As with the Samsung Nexus S the Samsung Nexus Prime [Samsung Galaxy Nexus] will feature a curved screen. The difference is that the Nexus Prime will be thinner than the Galaxy S.
- Fast & 4GB Now here is where more of my opinion comes in to play. At Google's Nexus Prime website, you can review the features of the next Nexus as well as ICS features & sign up for updates, but at Samsung's website, it lets you sign up & also choose the carrier in which you are interested. Those carriers include: AT&T, Cellular South, Metro PCS, Sprint T-Mobile, US Cellular, & Verizon [who has since announced it via Android Police].
- This leads to some discussion regarding Sprint's Nexus Prime. Sprint has since announced that it will be rolling out an LTE network starting next year. So will Sprint's Nexus have the abilitiy to connect to its future LTE network or will any early-adopters be stuck for two years now that Sprint has changed their upgrade policy?
